a good engine to start with would be a Pink Race from SH Engines, it's around 140€, is easy to tune, has lots of torque from the low end and lasts forever!
the only downside is, that rpm is a bit limited (the manufactorer claims 29000 and i could have some more rpm)
I dont know wheter they sell them in the UK or not, if you can't find an SH Pinkrace look for a Jamara Pink Race.

One of our moderators sells Mugen, but i think it's not a good idea to order them so far away.
Generally i think that the Kyosho MP7,5 Mugen MBX-4/5, Hyper 7, are all the same standard and you won't notice a significant difference at least i you do not race professionally. So, i'd rather go for the car that

    - is driven by most of the people around you (to share setups etc.)
    - you can obtain spare parts most easily (because nothing's more frustrating than waiting over a month for a little axle)

29000, seems a bit low on top end. especially as a friend has a sirio that revs like your grandmother stuck in first gear on the autobahn !
would the hyper 8port engine a good powerfull cheap option ?
how much would 2 x mugen mbx-5 cost with hyper 8 moter and exhaust with postage ? the uk is soo bloddy expensive and my work HQ is in Basel swiss.

    Hi Blue...,
I drive the Hyper 7 (the Pro version) and I'm highly pleased with the performance of this car. I'd say that this is the best option, when you want to by a Competion Buggy. Maybe the MBx 5 is a little better on the Race Track but you want get him for the price of the hyper.
At least it is your decision what you want to buy.

I also drive the Hyper 21 engine, its a reliable engine but it is not the strongest one.
I have the engine for 2 years now and it still runs like a clockwork but it is better to buy the Jamara Pink Race ("Pinky"
) or the XB 2000 ("Super Pinky" ) which have already been mentioned.

    greets Ben

PS: If you have further questions on the Hyper write a private message
